Tom’s story …

A successful wrestler in high school, Tom became afflicted with a serious—and often misunderstood disease—which plagued him for many years into adulthood.

The illness progressed to the point where he had to withdraw from college and go home. …Good-bye to the life Tom once had known!

Tom’s convalescence dragged out over a long period of time. It was during this chapter in his life that he earnestly began to search for Meaning in his struggles. Eventually, he found it! This had a profound impact on him because it helped him understand his struggles from a much broader and deeper perspective.

Once Tom discovered Meaning, he gained clarity on his life Purpose. Spiritual life lessons along the way bolstered his motivation to get well again—but not just for himself! But also for the benefit of others! He became inspired to make a difference in people’s lives.

In time, Tom returned to college and completed his degree, and his motivation for Self-Improvement continued to grow.  Tom eventually discovered Positive Psychology, which he calls “Self-Improvement on steroids!”

With his “second chance at life,” Tom wanted to become the very best version of himself—and to help others to do the same!

Tom experienced what scientists call Post Traumatic Growth.  With the wisdom, grit and strength Tom gained from his experience, he resolved to live a life of service to others from that point onward.

Beyond the personal power and vision Tom gained from his experience, one of the greatest gifts he gained from “the belly of the whale” (as he calls it) is the gift of compassion.

Tom gets it! He understands the pain and loneliness that accompany painful setbacks! So now he offers his Clients an empathetic approach, a listening ear, a compassionate heart, his zeal for helping them reach their full potential, and the Positive Psychology tools to help you get there!

If you happen to be one of these special individuals, Tom would love to hear from you! Reach out to him today!

Professional Background

With a dual passion for communication and Psychology, Tom decided to pursue his education in Psychology before switching his major to the former. Tom graduated Cum Laude with his degree in Communications Arts.

Tom worked as an editor and journalist after college and started his own Marketing/Public Relations agency. While he found this work reward, he felt something was missing…

In his communications business, Tom enjoyed getting to know his clients well so he could more effectively help them with their promotion campaigns. Through this work, he discovered that working closely with his business clients and coaching them more was much more gratifying than doing the communications work itself.

Although he was working in the business world, the “Psychology Mindset” was never far away for Tom. As a Personal Development connoisseur, he enjoyed learning about self-improvement and applying the principles he learned from gurus, such as Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Earl Nightingale, Zig Ziglar, etc.

When Tom learned about Positive Psychology, which is Personal Development backed by science, he knew this was an area he wanted to explore.

He began studying Positive Psychology and received a Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) through The Flourishing Center, whose instructors completed their MAPP studies at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania.

The University of Pennsylvania is the home of the “Founder of Positive Psychology,” Dr. Martin Seligman. Dr. Seligman had served as president of the American Psychological Association (APA).  While serving in this position, he used his leverage to put Positive Psychology on the map to benefit countless others around the world.

Today, Tom uses Positive Psychology to augment his Life Coaching and Consulting work.

His Programs are a unique blend of art and science: The art of Life Coaching combined with the science of Positive Psychology tools and interventions.

With this approach, Tom offer his Clients broader and deeper Life Coaching Sessions. His Clients are effectively coached and educated in powerful and actionable scientific data that help to transform their lives.

Life Coaching vs. Mental Health Counseling

To a great extent, Life Coaching and Counseling/Psychotherapy Clients are two different demographics.

Although it’s quickly getting the reputation of helping Clients reach their goals, Life Coaching is not an in-depth analysis of, diagnostic tool for, nor treatment of, mental illness.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are struggling with Depression, Anxiety or other Mental Illness and need help, CLICK HERE to talk with someone.

Life Coaching is growing in demand because people are increasingly becoming more goal-oriented, ambitious, and accountable for results.

Today, people are often in transition much more than in the past: Since people frequently change jobs and careers these days, a Life Coach can help them set appropriate goals, guide them in choosing the most suitable career options, and support them in navigating the transitions. Individuals in such circumstances often benefit from a skilled Life Coach.

A Psychotherapist/Counselor is an expert in diagnosing, analyzing, and treating mental illness. On the other hand, a Life Coach assumes that the Client is whole, resourceful, creative, accountable, responsible for their own agenda, and the expert in their own life.

Counseling/Psychotherapy looks “back” into Client’s history to determine what caused the issue.  Life Coaching looks “forward” into the future to help the Client reach their desired goals.

Life Coaching is for those who are proactively looking for the best possible outcome for themselves.

Thrivenity Life Coaching specializes in Resilience and Personal Development. People who would most benefit from TLC include individuals experiencing the following:
